Poverty Prevention
Hamilton Family Center works to foster the economic security and independence of the most vulnerable families in our community. Our poverty prevention initiatives include identifying employment opportunities, offering hands-on resume building and job coaching, helping families budget and open their first bank accounts, and leveling the playing field by providing computers and free internet access.
MyHousing.org is an online resource created to help extremely low and low-income, homeless, and formerly homeless families easily and efficiently locate affordable housing in the California county where they live. The consumer-driven site further functions as a homelessness prevention tool by connecting families with local eviction prevention financial assistance, specialized banking services, credit repair programs, and financial aid to pay utility bills. Myhousing.org will also soon be used to publicize housing policy updates and local information on new federal housing and homelessness funding and resources.

Pathways to Technology aims to address the digital divide that challenges extremely low-income, homeless families. The initiative is an effort to provide homeless families with computer literacy workshops while in shelter, their own family computer once they move into permanent housing, in-home computer training and problem solving, and one year of free internet service.
