Spend a few minutes with a newspaper or with the evening news and you are certain to hear about program cuts and recession. Job losses and a housing crisis strain every family’s budget. Some families living on the edge of poverty become homeless.

Consider these startling facts

• In the US, Approximately 1.35 million children will experience homelessness over the course of a year.

• On any given day, more than 200,000 children have no place to live.

• Children experiencing homelessness are sick four times more often than other children.

• Children experiencing homelessness have three times the rate of emotional and behavioral problems compared to non-homeless children.

• 87% worry that something bad will happen to their family.

Hamilton Family Center is working now to prepare our kids for school this fall, and we need your help! Child-focused programs at Hamilton Family Center transform homelessness into homes. You can transform hopelessness into hope.

For more than 25 years, Hamilton Family Center has been the leading provider of services to homeless families in San Francisco, and you have stood with us. We ask you to stand with us again. Your gift of $75, $100, $250, or $500 will enable us to serve more children and provide promise to more families. The impact of your gift will be measurable.

Our proactive children’s program includes:

• On-site clinicians who meet with families and host a range of support groups including women’s empowerment, play therapy, and parenting education

• Parental involvement in youth education, including a literacy campaign aimed at the children and parents to maximize parental participation in school activities

• On-site child development screening and education programs for children ages 0-8

• A youth mentoring project and a summer internship program are in development

As the children in Hamilton Family Shelter, and Family Transitional Housing Programs prepare to go back to school, we can send them with more than new school supplies and uniforms.
